The role

FrontierCFO is a startup that focuses on supporting other Canadian and US startups - we provide scalable financial service teams to growing startups as they go through their early evolutions.

Working closely with founders and CEOs, we integrate fully with their teams to provide adaptive financial services - not only do we make sure that their day to day financial operations are managed efficiently, we also support them through fundraising rounds, acquisitions, and even the occasional Dragon’s Den appearance!  Never boring, there’s always something new to figure out - we’re not just checking boxes, we’re innovating.  If you’re looking to join a company you can help shape and grow, this is an exciting time to join us!

FrontierCFO is committed to client success and employee growth - we provide a flexible environment with challenging work and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.  As a fully remote company we are not locked into any region for this role - as long as you can work in Canada, we want to hear from you!

FrontierCFO is looking to add a Virtual FP&A Analyst to support our client service team with developing financial models that aid in discovering insights and furthering financial analysis for startups across Canada and the US.

In this role, the main responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining financial models
  • Including: Revenue forecasts, consolidated investor reports, cash flow analysis, capital budgets, rolling budgets, forecasting with variables, and debt schedules
  • Supporting the team with updating and streamlining existing models
  • Template development for consolidating financial information from multiple sources for import into Xero
  • Template development for accounting schedules such as deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, and project completion billing for import into Xero
  • Meeting with team members to plan the outcome needed from new models - designing the model’s structure to include anticipated needs as the client grows
  • Assisting in the planning and development of key metrics/KPIs and building dashboards/models for our client services team to present to CEOs

Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll bring with you experiences like 3+ years in financial analyst roles — ideally experiencing high growth in a remote environment
  • You have a working knowledge of accounting practices and principles and are familiar with our client’ business models (SaaS, Digital Agencies, Content Creators, Enterprise Software)
  • You have an intuitive communication style with team members and clients that contributes to our culture of trust, respect, and reliability — especially when working remotely and asynchronously.
  • You have advanced Excel skills, and experience pulling trends and analytics from various sources (Stripe, Shopify, etc)
  • This includes working knowledge of macros and VBA as well as Power Pivot, Query and BI
  • You have experience with our tech stack, and are comfortable pulling data from and integrating with a number of sources such as:
  • Xero - a must have
  • Revenue - Stripe, Shopify, Sezzle, Returnly, Amazon, Klarna, Madewell
  • Expense/Advertising - Facebook
  • Inventory/3PL - Katana, Whiplash, Freight.com, Ship Bob
  • HRIS systems - Bamboo HR, Humi
  • You have experience building dashboards using various data visualization tools, such as Power BI
  • You have an uncanny ability to organize a high volume of data and information — while maintaining remarkable attention to detail and accuracy
  • You self-manage your schedule, priorities and deadlines in a flexible way that aligns with your team
  • You find meaning in working in a tight-knit team and thrive when collaborating with and learning from those around you
